Why we think Mike Bloomberg is a Type 3
Speaking style. He tends to be very direct and pragmatic, giving an air of both assertiveness and composure.
Efficiency and practicality. Bloomberg is data-driven and results-oriented in his business and political career. As Mayor of New York City, he focused on implementing metrics-based management models to improve city services' efficiency.
Success and achievement-oriented. Bloomberg is a self-made billionaire and one of the wealthiest people in the world. His creation and development of Bloomberg LP, a global financial services and media company, demonstrates a high level of ambition and drive. He has shown adaptability throughout his career in service of being successful, moving from finance to politics, then back to his business, and even running for president.
Workaholism and difficulty delegating. Bloomberg is known for his extreme dedication to his work. He has been quoted saying, "I'm not good at delegating," and, "If there's a problem, I want to be involved in it."
Desire for exposure and influence. Bloomberg's late entry into the 2020 Democratic primary showed his desire to influence and achieve, even when the odds seemed stacked against him. As another example, he continued to appear on his company's news outlet, Bloomberg Television, during his tenure as mayor.
Switching political affiliations. He was a lifelong Democrat before switching to the Republican Party for his 2001 mayoral campaign. In 2007, he became an independent, before finally returning to the Democratic Party in 2018. These changes were driven more by political expediency and a desire for success rather than changes in ideology.
