Why we think Amy Winehouse is a Type 7
Restless energy. Winehouse’s energy and body language was usually a mix of carefree and frenetic. It often felt like she was scattered in many different directions. She also came across as unabashed and direct (which gives us confidence that she has an 8 Wing).
Unselfconscious. She didn’t seem particularly careful that her words must properly express what she wanted to convey, and she seemed to answer questions very quickly (which gives us confidence that she is a Type 7, rather than a Type 4).
Dreams as a kid. She talked about how she wanted to be a roller skating waitress. It was all about wanting to have fun and be free.
Source of happiness. She shared that some of her happiest times were when she was playing pool and everyone was just enjoying themselves.
Descriptions of herself. She described herself as "disruptive" and "naughty," and as having a "fiercely independent streak."
Fear of being trapped and avoidance of pain. Her lyrics in "Rehab" show a refusal to acknowledge pain or seek help for it. In songs such as "Back to Black" and "Tears Dry On Their Own," there is a recurring theme of longing for freedom, escape, and resistance to confinement. Her substance abuse and frequent self-destructive behavior was, at least partially, an attempt to escape the mundane and painful aspects of life, ultimately leading to her tragic death in 2011.
Impulsivity. Amy's life and career were marked by episodes of impulsive decisions. For example, she spontaneously decided to marry Blake Fielder-Civil after a short romance, despite his known issues with substance abuse.
Amy Winehouse quotes that show she is a Type 7
"I didn't have stuff to keep me busy, do you know what I mean? And I was just going out and playing pool all day, drinking, and just being generally quite reckless and stupid and idiotic."
"I fall in love every day. Not with people but with situations."
"I just dress like... I'm an old black man. Sorry!"
"Every bad situation is a blues song waiting to happen" (indicative of the “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade” mentality)
"I write songs because I'm fucked in the head and need to get something good out of something bad.”
"i've come to realize that life is short as well, you know...you've gotta live in the moment. You've gotta seize the day. Seize the day."
"I guess people know that I don't really do what I'm told to do, I don't really care enough about what people think of me to conform to anything" (this also speaks to her 8 Wing)
"Life happens. There is no point in being upset or down about things we can't control or change."
"I'm actually a really domesticated person. My idea of a perfect night is to just get 15 of my mates over and cook them dinner, to be honest." (15 is a lot of people!)
