Why we think Adam Sandler is a Type 7

  • Demeanor. Sandler's demeanor in interviews reflects a positive, upbeat, and playful energy. He shows up with a boyish, enthusiastic, and unselfconscious charm. At times, his energy can come off as frenetic. He is not rigid or formal.

  • Use of humor to deal with challenging situations. Sandler has a knack for lightening the mood with humor. As an example, in 2019, Adam Sandler hosted SNL for the first time since he left the show in the 90s. As he began his monologue, he addressed his unexpected firing from the show with humor, singing a song titled, "I Was Fired." In another example, at the Golden Raspberry Awards (also known as Razzies), he “won” the Worst Actor award in 2011 for the film Just Go With It. Instead of being angry or embarrassed, in a much celebrated acceptance speech, Sandler embraced the situation with humor, making fun of himself and the event.

  • Fun-loving and spontaneous roles. Many of Adam Sandler's roles show him as a spontaneous, fun-loving character, which reflects how he carries himself in real life. He more or less plays himself to entertain and make people laugh. For instance, in Billy Madison, he plays a man-child who embraces life with a childish joy and spontaneity, not hesitating to engage in silly antics or follow his immediate desires. In Mr. Deeds, his character is whimsical and unpredictable.

Adam Sandler quotes that show he is a Type 7

  • "I sing seriously to my mom on the phone. To put her to sleep, I have to sing “Maria” from West Side Story. When I hear her snoring, I hang up."

  • "Chemistry can be a good and bad thing. Chemistry is good when you make love with it, chemistry is bad when you make crack with it."

  • "When I'm up there, and I know the show's coming to a close, in my head I'm saying to myself, ‘Oh man, you gotta get off and be a normal person again.’ That's what I don't like so much" (this also is indicative of his 6 Wing).

  • "I've been called a moron since I was about four. My father called me a moron. My grandfather said I was a moron. And a lot of times when I'm driving, I hear I'm a moron."

  • “My comedy is different every time I do it. I don't know what the hell I'm doing” (this also is indicative of his 6 Wing).

  • “When I got into this, I never thought about reviews. I never thought about what people would say about me, I was just a young guy who was excited to become a comedian and an actor, and I just wanted to get to do what I got to do.”
