THE CONTROLLING TENDENCIES OF OUR EGOS
Experiencing life through the lens of the ego
Even the most self-aware among us experience life largely through the lens of our ego, which we define as an identity of who we think we should be, rather than who we truly are. Our lives are characterized by conscious or unconscious neediness where we put ourselves first and employ all our unique, habitual strategies to make the world tell us what we want it to tell us, even if it is often to the detriment of ourselves and others.
During this program, through facilitated discussions and interactions with other program participants, you will have a chance to explore more deeply your own controlling behaviors and see the impact of them on yourself and others in your life. We find it takes an incredible amount of humility and honesty to see the controlling tendencies of our egos, but once we do, it becomes repugnant to stay at that same level of consciousness. There is still guilt and shame as we gain more awareness, and we may still find ourselves justifying our behaviors. But as we completely and consistently own our actions and thought processes irrespective of other peoples’ actions, then we will see our base level of consciousness rise.
The Levels of Consciousness
The three ways we operate and fluctuate between at any given moment that determine whether we fulfill our inherent potential – to be our best selves and benefit others tremendously – or deprive ourselves of being who we’re meant to be by indulging our ego fixations for validation from others
